Good First Class Availability on New Cathay Pacific and Etihad Routes from LA

New Cathay and Etihad Routes from Los Angeles from June 1, 2014

Cathay Pacific has added a new daily flight between Los Angeles and Hong Kong, and Etihad has added a new Los Angeles to Abu Dhabi route. Both offer 2 first class award seats on most days, which is great news for LA travelers looking to book Cathay Pacific First Class to Asia, or Etihad First Class to the Maldives, Middle East or India.

Here are the details for the new Cathay Pacific route:

CX893: LAX to HKG departs LA 9:40am, arrives Hong Kong 3:25pm the next day (14 hours 45 minutes)

CX892 HKG to LAX departs Hong Kong 9:30am, arrives LA 7:55am (13 hours 25 minutes)

New Cathay Pacific LAX-HKG Route with First Class Award Availability

First Class One Way: 67,500 AAdvantage miles

Business Class One Way: 55,000 AAdvantage miles

As you can see, 2 first class award seats and 5 business class seats are typically available on these routes, at least for now. So if you're on the West Coast and planning a trip to Asia sometime after June 1, 2014, I would lock in first class awards soon!

For Etihad, the LA to Abu Dhabi route is entirely new, and very good news for travelers on the West Coast who want to go to the Maldives, Middle East or India in a very nice first class product.

EY170: LAX to AUH departs 4:15pm, arrives Abu Dhabi 7:35pm the next day (16 hours 20 minutes)

EY171L AUH to LAX departs 8:45am, arrives LA 2:15pm (16 hours 30 minutes)

First Class One Way to AUH or to the Maldives, Middle East or India: 90,000 AAdvantage miles

Business Class One Way to AUH or to the Maldives, Middle East or India: 67,500 AAdvantage miles

While AA.com doesn't display Etihad award availability online, you can call, and many days offer 2 first class award seats.

The aircraft will be a 777-200LR, with 8 first class suites. We flew Etihad First Class earlier this year from Abu Dhabi to NYC JFK, and had a great experience: very friendly service, especially from the onboard chef; good food with dining on demand; nicely appointed private suites; good IFE with plenty of film choices; complimentary WiFi; and complimentary Etihad Chauffeur service to our door.

Do you have any plans to fly either of these new routes out of LA on Cathay Pacific or Etihad?
