This Harborview Restaurant San Francisco restaurant review is from a 2025 visit. The restaurant is located in the financial district, at 4 Embarcadero Center, a 3-minute walk from the Hyatt Regency San Francisco and a 5-minute walk from the Ferry Building.

Harborview Restaurant Hours and Seating

The restaurant is open for lunch Tuesday-Friday 11:30am-2pm, and Saturday-Sunday 10:30am-2:30pm. Dinner is served Tuesdays-Sundays 5-9pm.

In addition to the indoor dining space, which includes some larger round tables for families or groups, there's outdoor dining on the terrace, weather permitting.

Harborview Dim Sum Menu and Food

The dim sum menu is extensive:

The baked bbq pork buns with a crunchy sugar crust are a signature item, so I ordered them. Disappointingly, they were underdone, with insufficient filling. The chain Tim Ho Wan does a much better version.

The rice noodle rolls with barbecued pork were better, although I've had better versions at cheaper places in San Francisco, let alone NYC and Hong Kong.

The glutinous rice with meat wrapped in lotus leaf was the best item, with ample meat, although I missed the mushrooms and Chinese sausage that are found in better versions I've had.

As there wasn't soy sauce or chili sauce at the table, I had to flag down a server to ask for some. Perhaps it was an oversight, but I would have expected this to either already be at the table or to be offered proactively.

The Verdict

I enjoyed the pleasant ambience on the terrace and polite service, but wasn't overly impressed with the food at Harborview. I've enjoyed better baked char siu buns with a crunchy top elsewhere, as well as rice noodle rolls. The lotus leaf-wrapped sticky rice was the best item, but again, have had better elsewhere that includes lap cheong and more mushroom. While it could be the items I ordered, I wouldn't rush back.
