In my view the best use of the upgrade is when booking a Lagoon View Overwater Bungalow Suite, assuming there's a Mountain View Overwater Bungalow Suite available at time of booking for your dates. Here's an example for Oct. 26-31, which would also enable you to enjoy 5th night free and all Four Seasons Preferred Partner benefits:
Lagoon View Overwater Bungalow Suite for XPF 191,000 + taxes/fees per night with 5th night free = average of XPF 152,800 + taxes/fees per night.
You'd enjoy a guaranteed upgrade to a Mountain View Overwater Bungalow Suite, with a view of Otemanu, which normally would be XPF 215,000 + taxes/fees per night, with 5th night free.
Your savings over the 5 night stay = XPF 116,832, or over $1100, the difference in cost between the two categories, not to mention the 5th night free and FSPP perks.

How is the Weather in Bora Bora During This Time?
The wet season generally runs November to April, but keep in mind that Bora Bora still tends to see more sun during this time than many parts of Hawaii do. Still, I'd recommend trying to go in late October or in November, rather than December, if possible, as on average there tends to be more rain in December.
Is This a Good Time to Go to Bora Bora for Couples?
Yes; the good thing about going in late October and November is that generally there are few school age children during this time, as it's not a holiday season for most schools in the U.S. or Australia/New Zealand.

How Long Are the Flights to Tahiti and Bora Bora?
The flight from LAX to Papeete PPT is about 8.5 hours on either Air Tahiti Nui or Air France, and the flight from Papeete to Bora Bora BOB is less than 1 hour, and is on Air Tahiti.
Are There Flat Bed Business Class Seats to Tahiti?
Yes, finally, there are at least some Air France 777-200 New Business Class flights that have the new Air France flat bed seat, which looks like this:
The key is to look for the 777-200 with 1-2-1 configuration in Business Class. If instead you see Business Class in a 2-3-2 configuration, unfortunately these are the old angled flat seats. Also note that equipment swaps can and do happen, so there's no guarantee that the new Business Class that is scheduled for the route when you book your ticket will be in service the day you fly.
Air Tahiti Nui Business Class seats are all angled flat. No word yet on whether there will be flat bed seats on the new 787-9 Dreamliners that are on order for 2019 delivery.
