Alaska Airlines Visa: 40,000 Bonus Miles Offer

The Alaska Airlines Visa is offering a 40,000 bonus miles offer, although with a high spend requirement that probably won't make it worth it for most folks to earn the full 40,000 miles bonus. Not long ago, there was a great 50,000 Alaska Airlines Visa offer that only required $1000 minimum spend but unfortunately it's now dead.

For those with high spend, for example due to having a small business or high reimburseable expenses, here are the details for the 40,000 Alaska Airlines Visa offer:

40,000 signup bonus: 25,000 bonus miles upon approval, and an additional 15,000 bonus miles after making at least $10,000 in purchases within the first six months of the account open date

3 miles per qualifying dollar of purchases of Alaska Airlines tickets, vacation packages and cargo purchases

Coach companion fare every year from $118

This offer specifically is targeted to Alaska Airlines elites, although it's more than likely anyone who applies using the link above will receive the bonus.

Alaska Airlines miles can be used on some great partners, such as Cathay Pacific First Class, Qantas First Class, Emirates, and Korean Air Business Class. Most Alaska airlines partners can be booked one way, except for Delta, Korean and LAN, which require roundtrip awards.

So I do recommend building up Alaska miles, and there has been some reported success churning Bank of America cards (see Can You Churn Bank of America Credit Cards?) but having just gotten the 50,000 Alaska Visa, I won't be biting on this offer.

Instead, for the same $10,000 minimum spend, I would highly recommend jumping on the 100K Citi Executive AAdvantage Card offer, if you haven't already.
