Mandarin Oriental Desaru Coast Opens 2026

The Mandarin Oriental Desaru Coast, Malaysia will open in January 2026, a reflagging of the One&Only Desaru Coast. The resort is set on 128 acres of rainforest and beachfront on Johor’s southeastern coast, with direct views of the South China Sea.

The hotel is the last completed hotel project of the late architect, Kerry Hill, known for Aman Tokyo, Aman Kyoto, and Amankora in Bhutan, among other projects.

Getting to Mandarin Oriental Desaru Coast

It's about a 2 hour drive from Singapore to get to the resort. Alternatively, there are nonstop flights to Senai Airport (JHB) from Kuala Lumpur (KUL) or Bangkok's Don Mueng Airport (DMK) and Jakarta (CGK), then a 1 hour drive from Senai Airport to the resort.

The rebranded resort features 44 spacious suites and villas, all with direct views of the sea or rainforest, and many with private gardens and plunge pools.

There will be five distinct dining destinations that blend global cuisines with local culinary flavors, including a stylish beach club and a relaxed lounge bar with coastal views.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental will offer a holistic wellness sanctuary, delivering the Group’s renowned treatments and authentic rituals rooted in the Orient. Included in the wellness offering is a yoga pavilion, fitness centre, beauty salon and a range of sporting facilities including tennis and padel courts. A dedicated Kids’ Club with indoor and outdoor areas will continue to serve families, along with a nature pond designed around exploratory play.
