Fairmont Pacific Rim Gold Floor Lounge Location and Hours
The Gold Floor Club Lounge is located on the hotel's 20th floor, although there's also an entrance from the 21st floor, where our room was, with stairs down to the lounge.
The Gold Lounge offers four food presentations throughout the day, at time of writing:
- Breakfast: 6:30am-10:30am
- Afternoon Snacks: 1pm-4pm
- Evening Canapes: 5-7pm
- After Dinner Sweets: 8-9pm
Wine and other alcoholic drinks are not complimentary, but can be paid for via the Honour Bar, which is available daily from 12noon to 9:30pm.
Fairmont Pacific Rim Gold Lounge Seating
There was always plenty of seating in the room that the stairs from the 21st floor led to, probably because this seating was furthest from the food presentations. Right next to the stairs were comfortable chairs for watching TV, while other seating, at tables, was near the windows.
The next room, across from the buffet, tended to be more popular.
We were fortunate enough to have beautiful weather during our two day stay, so the outdoor balcony was a pleasant place to take in the spectacular harbor views.
My son enjoyed seeing the float planes take-off and land in the harbor.
Fairmont Pacific Rim Gold Lounge Breakfast
The Gold Lounge breakfast went beyond the usual breakfast offerings to include avocado with cherry tomatoes and goat cheese; creamy mascarpone with fresh figs, and cream filled doughnuts, in addition to fresh cut fruit and berries, yogurt parfaits, cereal, juices and cold cuts.
I was especially happy with the availability and quality of the fresh raspberries and blackberries. Increasingly, I find that Club Lounges (and even First Class airline cabins) don't provide fresh berries, likely part of cost reduction initiatives.
What was especially unique, for a Club Lounge, was the omelet station, with made to order omelets. I enjoyed my spinach, mushroom and cheese omelet, together with fresh squeezed orange juice and a yogurt and granola parfait.
Espresso drinks are readily available via the Nespresso machine.
This fresh baked Pain au Chocolat pastry went well with morning coffee.
Afternoon Snacks
Afternoon snacks in the Fairmont Pacific Rim Gold Lounge are akin to afternoon tea, although focused on sweet treats; there weren't any savory items or sandwiches. There's a bowl of fresh fruit, however.
The dark chocolate was especially delicious. The scone wasn't bad, but I've had better.
Evening Canapés
Evening canapés were well presented and delicious, especially the cold hors d'oeuvres such as the tuna poke, beet salad, and smoked salmon with cream cheese.
Sushi was very good for a club lounge, although of course we'd been a bit spoiled by the aburi sushi we had at Miku Restaurant.
There were also crudites and a small cheese plate:

After Dinner Sweet Treats / Desserts
After dinner desserts during our visit included a delectable raspberry mousse cake, a delicious lemon posset, and mini tiramisu and cookies, which I did not try.

The Verdict
While most club lounges in North America are nothing to write home about, even at luxury hotels such as the Ritz-Carlton (at least compared to Asia) I was very pleasantly surprised with the high quality of the Fairmont Pacific Rim Vancouver Gold Lounge, from the delicious breakfast options (especially the fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh berries, mascarpone with fresh figs, and the made to order omelet station) to the evening hors d'oeuvres, particularly the tuna poke, smoked salmon cream cheese bites, beet salad and sushi.
The beautiful water views from the window seats and the outdoor balcony were an especially lovely backdrop to the peaceful club lounge atmosphere. My son was one of the few children, although there were also some very well behaved French Canadian kids, who were Vancouver locals on a staycation with their parents.
The only detractors were that there's no savory component to the Afternoon Snacks service, and wine and other alcohol is not included (it must be paid for via the Honour Bar).
