Amazon Prime Member Deals at All Whole Foods Stores

Amazon Prime Member Deals-Whole Foods Market

Amazon Prime Member Deals are at All Whole Foods Stores, having been rolled out across the U.S. this past week, after an initial introduction in select Whole Foods stores starting in May. Since Whole Foods is already a great way to earn 5X on grocery spend all year round (see below FAQ), so Prime Member Deals help reduce the “whole paycheck” cost, even though our primary shopping remains at Trader Joe's, using gift cards bought during Chase Freedom 5X on grocery stores in Q2 2018.

  • Prime Member Deals are special sales only available to Amazon Prime members
  • Extra 10% off sale items gives Amazon Prime members an extra 10% off items already on sale (excluding alcohol, and occasionally there are other exclusions)

FAQ

How Are Items Identified as Amazon Prime Member Deals?

Look for the blue signage in Whole Foods stores; it's hard to miss. Most yellow signs for regular sale items will also provide an extra 10% discount to Amazon Prime members, but check your local store for exclusions.

How Do I Get the Amazon Prime Member Discount?

I was initially told I had to download the Whole Foods Market app, which I was loathe to do, as I hate adding new apps to my phone. Fortunately, you don't need to, if you're also averse to adding new apps. Simply ensure you have provided a phone number as part of your Amazon Prime membership. To check, go to “Login & security” when logged into Amazon.

At Whole Foods, when you get to the cashier, mention that you're an Amazon Prime member and that you want to provide your phone number so that you receive the Prime discount.

What's the Best Way to Pay for Whole Food Purchases to Earn Miles and Points?

I recommend having the Ink Cash card (if you don't have an old Ink Plus card) and using it at Staples to buy Whole Foods gift cards, since you'll earn 5X points on office supply store purchases, including Whole Foods gift cards. Then use those gift cards for Whole Foods spend.

Assuming you also have the Chase Sapphire Reserve (CSR) or Chase Sapphire Preferred (CSP), you can combine the Ink Cash points with the Ultimate Rewards linked CSR or CSP and transfer out to frequent flyer programs, such as Korean Air SkyPass, Singapore KrisFlyer, United MileagePlus, British Airways Executive Club, Air France/KLM Flying Blue and others.
