Top Credit Card Signup Bonuses You Can Get Again

Which credit card signup bonuses can you get again? TravelSort reader Nate writes “I think I've gotten most of the great credit card signup bonuses, so what I'd really like to know is: which credit card signup bonuses can I get again?”

The miles and points and credit card signup bonuses landscape changes often, but here are my current picks for signup bonuses that can be possible to get again. Caveat: just because others have gotten a signup bonus again, doesn't mean that the issuer will approve your specific application, so as always, your mileage may vary.

1. Citi Executive AAdvantage 50,000 Bonus

There were previously 100,000 and 75,000 Citi Executive AAdvantage signup bonus offers, but they are currently dead, and the best current offer is the 50K Citi Executive AAdvantage bonus offer (see Best Travel Credit Cards for the link), although it does carry a hefty $450 annual fee (not waived). You do receive Admirals Club Membership and first checked bag free with this card.

2. CitiBusiness AAdvantage 50,000 Bonus

50,000 AAdvantage miles after $3000 spend within the first 3 months. Note that not everyone has been able to successfully earn the bonus again for the CitiBusiness AAdvantage card, but for those that do report success, they've generally needed to apply at least 95 days after their most recent application, and after completely closing out the business master account.

3. Sapphire Preferred Visa 45,000 Bonus (if you previously had a Sapphire Preferred MasterCard)

If you previously had the Sapphire Preferred MasterCard and cancelled it, you have a strong chance of being able to earn the bonus again for the Sapphire Preferred Visa. Note that if you currently hold the Sapphire Preferred MasterCard, Chase will be switching you to the Visa sometime later this year, so you may want to apply for the Visa version before Chase switches you to it, so as to earn the bonus again. For some time it hasn't been possible to apply for the MasterCard version, due to Chase switching ALL its existing cards to Visa versions, so if you've never had the Sapphire Preferred MasterCard it's too late for this, and similarly for the Ink small business cards.

4. The US Airways® Premier World MasterCard® – 40,000 Bonus

The US Airways Dividend Miles and American AAdvantage frequent flyer programs won't combine until late in 2015, so as long as you have a strong credit score and don't have too many recent inquiries (Barclays often declines applicants even with stellar credit scores if they've applied for a number of credit cards within the past year or so) then you could get two or more of these bonuses.

As a con, the $89 annual fee is not waived, but as a pro, you earn the bonus after first purchase and payment of the $89 annual fee, which makes this a good card to apply for along with cards such as the 60K Citi Executive  AAdvantage or 70K Ink Plus, which have significant $5000 minimum spend requirements.

5. Barclaycard Arrival Plus™ World Elite MasterCard® – 40,000 Bonus

This card offers 40,000 miles as a signup bonus after $3000 spend. You can redeem those 46,000 miles (40K bonus + 6K from $3000 spend) for $460 in travel statement credits, and earn back 4600 miles ($46) as a 10% miles rebate. If you previously had a Barclaycard Arrival card, and were upgraded to the Barclaycard Arrival Plus™ World Elite MasterCard® you may even be able to get another bonus for the upgraded card, as my husband recently was, without applying for the card again. As always, your mileage may vary (YMMV).

6. AMEX Business Charge Cards

American Express consumer cards have effectively become once in a lifetime. While you will have not have any other AMEX Business card accounts in the past 12 months, it can be possible to get another signup bonus for an AMEX business credit card. Hopefully you can get a targeted offer, such as the 100K AMEX Business Platinum. Note that you're more likely to receive high targeted offers if you either don't have any American Express accounts or only are an authorized user on an AMEX account, but not the primary cardholder.
