Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong Location, Lobby and Check-In
The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong is located on the top floors of the International Commerce Centre skyscraper, which is the tallest building in Hong Kong and the 5th tallest in the world, by number of floors.
Getting to it is easy from Hong Kong Airport, since Kowloon Station in the basement of the adjacent mall is served by the Airport Express train. In fact, it takes just 22 minutes between the Hong Kong Airport station and the Kowloon Station, although of course you need to allow ample time to walk to the Ritz-Carlton from the Kowloon Station.
Follow signs to the Ritz-Carlton hotel, and take one of the several escalators up, including this one by Givenchy:
This one near Bulgari:
You'll come to an entrance with the Ritz-Carlton signage, and then a further escalator up to the 9th floor arrival lounge:
You then take an elevator all the way up to the 103rd Floor main lobby. It was somewhat busy when I arrived there, and this was the only place I encountered a surly employee, who insisted I should get in line, when actually I was just looking for the elevator bank that would take me to the Club Lounge level, where I knew I'd be able to check in faster. I found someone else who pointed me in the right direction.
At the Club Lounge, I was warmly welcomed, invited to have a drink in the lounge while checking in, and assured that my carry-on luggage, which I'd hurriedly dropped off earlier in the afternoon prior to going to lunch, was already in my room.
Club Grand Victoria Harbour Room
The Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong offers several room types:
- Deluxe Room: 1 King or 2 Double beds. 540 square feet, city or partial mountain view
- Deluxe Harbour Room: 1 King or 2 Double beds. 540 square feet, harbour view
- Deluxe Victoria Harbour Room: 1 King or 2 Double beds. 540 square feet, harbour view, floors 106-112
- Grand Harbour Room: 1 King, 700 square feet, harbour view, floors 111-112
- Grand Victoria Harbour Room: 1 King, 700 square feet, panoramic views across Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island, floors 106-112
Swimming Pool
The indoor swimming pool is located on Floor 118. It has great views, and is a good size for an indoor pool, although it was quite busy with individuals and families when I took a look at it in the early evening.
Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong Club Lounge
I'll review the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong Club Lounge, located on the 116th floor, and its food and beverage offerings in a future post.
The Verdict
I loved the view from my Club Grand Victoria Harbour Room, and highly recommend this room type. Don't wait until the last minute to reserve it however–there are only 6 of this room type at the Club level, and only 4 of this room type that are not Club level. Apart from the views, the room was very comfortable and spacious, at 700 square feet, and had all the luxury hotel touches you'd expect: soaking tub with mirror embedded LCD TV, rain shower, separate toilet chamber, dual his and hers sinks, in-room Nespresso machine, 400 thread count linens, bathrobes, slippers, etc.
What really made the experience, however, was Club Lounge access. This being Hong Kong, with steep luxury hotel competition from the Four Seasons Hong Kong, The Upper House, The Peninsula, Mandarin Oriental and others, the Club Lounge offerings and service are better than you'll find at typical U.S. Ritz-Carlton hotels.
If you've stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, what was your experience?
