Ararat Park Hyatt Location and Check-In
The Ararat Park Hyatt is located at 4 Neglinnaya Street, about a 10 minute walk to Red Square, and just a 5 minute walk to the closest Moscow Metro station, Teatralnaya. We were missing our main two bags (see Is Transaero a Good Airline? Not if You Want Your Baggage to Arrive With You) so with basically just my computer bag we took the Aeroexpress train from Vnukovo Airport to Kievskaya, then transferred to Metro Line 3 (Arbatskaya) and took it 3 stops to Ploshchad Revolyutsii, then exited at the attached Teatralnaya Station before walking to the hotel.
Ararat Park Hyatt Park Twin Room
Once we reached the Ararat Park Hyatt we checked in, and were on our way to our Park Twin Room quite quickly. It was on the top floor, so we had a view over the rooftops towards Red Square:
There was a nice fresh fruit welcome amenity, even though there was only 1 plate and napkin:
Standard Park Rooms are 376-430 square feet, so comfortably spacious for a hotel right in the center of Moscow. The hotel underwent a renovation in 2011-2012, so the feel is modern, even if some areas, such as the table in our room, had quite a few marks from wear and tear.
There was a bedside control panel for the lights and shades, with everything marked clearly in Russian and English:
The beds, as is usual for Park Hyatt, had mattresses that were too firm for my taste, but we were both so tired that night that we slept pretty well anyway.
The bathroom featured a separate bathtub and glass enclosed shower, although only one sink and vanity, and the toilet was not separately enclosed.
Bath products were by Blaise Mautin, as at the Park Hyatt Paris Vendome.
We were missing toiletries, which although I usually pack in my computer bag, I had packed in my carry-on that we were forced to check. Fortunately Hyatt does offer essential toiletries complimentary, so I was able to get housekeeping to deliver toothbrushes, toothpaste, a hairbrush and other essentials.
Coffee addicts will be glad to know there is an Illy Espresso machine in the room; I made good use of it the next morning.
Conservatory Terrace and Swimming Pool
The Ararat Park Hyatt has a Conservatory on its penultimate floor, which opens to an outdoor terrace. While we didn't have time on this short visit to linger, we enjoyed a peek outside:
There's also a swimming pool, jacuzzi and Finnish sauna on the 4th floor, where the Spa is. The pool area is open 5am-midnight weekdays, and 7am-10pm on weekends.
The Verdict
We had a short but pleasant stay at the Ararat Park Hyatt in Moscow. Our Park Room was comfortable and still modern looking thanks to the renovation 3 years ago, even though some items such as the table showed signs of wear. The bathroom wasn't quite up to luxury standards, in terms of not having a separate toilet chamber or double sinks, but water pressure was good. I was especially grateful for the Hyatt complimentary toiletries that I was able to obtain from Housekeeping, in view of our lost luggage situation. Breakfast, which I'll add a few photos of later, was also high quality, although our a la carte orders took a very long time to be prepared. That and the fact that the Internet was rather slow, as well as the perenially hard mattresses that Park Hyatt uses were my main complaints in an otherwise very good stay.
