We love the juxtaposition of modern interiors with historical landmark buildings, and luxury boutique Hotel de L'Europe, owned by the Heineken family, is a stellar example. Its 17th century origins as a humble inn are belied by its post $85 million renovation elegant yet modern rooms and suites, and amenities such as butler service, Clefs D'Or Concierge, private jetty (just in case you're arriving by yacht), heated bathroom floors, bespoke toiletries and Nespresso machines. We love the room technology, from in-room iPad to Bose sounds system and dual voltage power outlets; the dizzying array of lighting options will either thrill or stump you, however. Don't miss at least one drink on perhaps Amsterdam's loveliest riverfront terrace, Het Terras. If you're a foodie, reserve at Bord'Eau to sample specialties such as crispy sweetbread with celeriac and Seabass with coconut, lime and sea fennel. Cinephiles can enjoy spotting Hotel de L'Europe in several key scenes in Alfred Hitchcock's “Foreign Correspondent.”

Getting to Amsterdam with Frequent Flyer Miles or Points
Here are some of the best ways to get to Moscow using frequent flyer miles or loyalty points:
1. United flight nonstop to Amsterdam
Unfortunately, United's nonstop, at least from NYC, almost never seems to have saver level business or first class availability. If you don't mind going in coach, it should be a pretty easy award to book.
While United does fly nonstop to Amsterdam from NYC and ORD, it can be very tough to get business or first class at the saver level. If you have the flexibility to take a last minute flight to Amsterdam you could take Lufthansa first class to Frankfurt, Dusseldorf or Munich, then another Lufthansa flight to Amsterdam. Using United miles, this will also be 135,000 miles roundtrip. Definitely recommend springing for first class over business, since Lufthansa business class is still angled flat seats, not flat bed seats.
Earn the miles by
making your own 100,000 credit card bonus offer using the Ink Bold, or by applying at the same time for the Ink Bold and Chase personal card, such as the United MileagePlus Explorer, or the Sapphire Preferred, since Chase will usually approve a personal and business card application submitted at the same time.
Qatar only offers business class from the U.S., but it's arguably one of the very best international business class products out there. Book using AAdvantage miles or British Airways Avios. From Doha, the only nonstop to Amsterdam is on KLM, so you'll need to use Delta miles for it.
The goal here is to avoid going through London, with its high surcharges, plus Iberia offers good availability, especially out of Chicago.
5. Atlanta to Amsterdam nonstop on KLM
If you're near Atlanta, this is probably your most convenient choice, although note that KLM can be stingy with award space, and KLM does not offer a full flat business class seat (and no first class, which even if they had it you wouldn't be able to redeem for anyway with Skymiles)
