Beat Cafe Copenhagen Location, Hours, and Seating
Beat Cafe is located at Enghave Pl. 13 in Vesterbro, next to the Beat vinyl record store. It takes only 5 minutes to get there on the M3 metro from Copenhagen Central Station, since it's a 1 minute walk from the Enghave Pl. Station. Beat Cafe serves an array of beers, wine, soft drinks, and Spanish style tapas from 10am-10pm most days except Sundays (when it closes at 6pm) and Fridays and Saturdays, when it closes at midnight. While there's some limited seating indoors, on pleasant summer days the popular place to sit is outdoors at one of the picnic tables right outside the cafe, with benches, or round tables and chairs across the street.

Beat Cafe Food
Beat Cafe specializes in Spanish tapas served on small plates. For light to moderate appetites, figure on 1.5-2 plates per person, or three plates per person for hungry adults. For hungry teenagers (which we had two of during our visit) figure on 4 plates per person. It's more fun to share an assortment of plates and sample a greater variety.
Our first plates to arrive were broccoli with sesame sauce and paella croquettes. The broccoli's sesame dressing, garnished with sesame seeds and cilantro, was more Asian than Spanish, but delicious. And the seafood paella croquettes were fantastic. We were very happy to have ordered three plates of them.
.
Next were the glazed chicken thighs (two to a plate) and pan con tomate (hearty country bread with fresh tomato-garlic puree). The chicken had a delectable tangy sweet-piquant sauce, with a subtle red pepper kick that should be fine for most diners as it wasn't too spicy. The bread with tomato was fresh and our vegetarian friend enjoyed it.
.
Our last trio of tapas included grilled shishito peppers with a shaved parmesan (excellent); patatas bravas with crispy fried potatoes and an addictive tomato sauce and mayo topping; and anchovies with marinated red pepper (perhaps only for anchovy fans such as my husband, given the inherent saltiness of anchovies).
.
The Verdict
For Spanish-style tapas in Vesterbro in a convivial outdoor setting, it's hard to beat (no pun intended) Beat Cafe. Of the plates we tried, particular favorites were the paella croquettes, patatas bravas, and shishito peppers, although the broccoli with sesame dressing, glazed chicken, and anchovies with red peppers were also excellent.
