Persistence Pays Off! Wyndham 48,000 Bonus Points Posted

Just a quick update to say that as predicted, Wyndham finally did honor the 16,000 bonus points per stay at select new hotels and the 48,000 points for my 3 non-refundable hotel stays recently posted to my account:

Wyndham 48,000 Bonus Points Posted

If you've been following this saga, you know that after this was popularized on Flyertalk, TravelSort and other blogs, Wyndham changed the terms and said on Flyertalk that only those who were targeted with a direct mail piece would receive points. They also changed the language at the top of the offer page to say this, although the actual terms and conditions at the bottom of the page remained the same.

Some folks at that point decided to cancel their reservations or take the Wyndham rep on Flyertalk up on their offer to cancel their non-refundable reservations without penalty. I advised against that in my 10/22 update, and kept my non-refundable reservations. To me there wasn't a legitimate way for Wyndham to get out of honoring this deal, and if they ultimately didn't, I would have simply initiated a chargeback, given that I wouldn't have received the points that were promised under the language in effect when I made my reservations.

It took about a month, but I've been made whole, and am happy with the outcome, if not exactly the process with which the Wyndham rep on Flyertalk handled things.

If you participated in this promo prior to the change in language and haven't yet received your points, make sure you request a folio for each stay from the Wyndham properties you stayed at, then email WRCustomerservice@wyndhamrewards.com with your member number and the folios.

It took about 10 days after doing this for me to receive my points; look for it to post as “Rever Adj” since the promo was known internally as Revere, and Adj = Adjustment.

Don't forget that if you don't plan to use them for Wyndham stays and have collected 52,500 Wyndham points, you can transfer these to United miles to receive a 5000 United miles bonus, for a total of 26,000 United miles. You must transfer by November 30, 2012 to be eligible for the bonus.
