Don't you love it when everything works well and people seem genuinely happy to help you? That's what I adore at this luxury hotel, which has become the go-to hotel for some of my clients in this major capital city. One hint that it's special is that each time my clients stay, the team member who checked them in takes the time to email me to mention how their stay is going so far, a wonderful touch that very few hotels do (I can count them on one hand).
We arrived in the morning and needed to quickly drop off our luggage before heading elsewhere; the Concierge stepped in, took charge of our luggage after I gave him our name, and a tag wasn't even needed. At a larger hotel I might have been worried (what if one of our 4 pieces went missing?) but at this property, I knew it would be handled perfectly, and it was; all the luggage was placed in our suite. On the way out, I admired the flowers in the lobby (pictured above) and hallway.
.
When we arrived later to actually check-in, the cheerful front desk team member invited us to have a drink in the lounge, promising us that housekeeping was putting the finishing touches on our upgraded room suite. We enjoyed a refreshing pineapple juice, and sure enough, when it was ready she came to find us (I've been at other hotels where unfortunately, in the course of many other guests checking in, we've been forgotten until we check back).
.
We were indeed thrilled to be upgraded to a spacious suite, with a living room and dining table that is closed off from the bedroom, and a half bathroom as well as a full marble bathroom that looks and feels brand new (suites were very recently renovated).
.
The entire suite has a very soothing, residential feel; I think part of it has to do with the full bookshelf, which includes many short stories (as my contact explained, most guests don't stay long enough to devour an entire novel, but they do have time to read a short story).
.
Even though the hotel is in one of the most upscale and busy neighborhoods in the city, inside, it was completely quiet: perfect soundproofing, which isn't always the case. I particularly enjoyed the view from the bedroom of one of the neighborhood squares.
.
There was welcome champagne and fresh fruit, which was exactly what we craved. The non-alcoholic drinks in the mini bar are also complimentary.
.
I expected breakfast to be good, but it exceeded my expectations–it was fantastic. Orange and grapefruit juices are freshly squeezed.
.
It was hard to decide among the offerings, several of which were more unusual, so I settled on a mushroom, potato, and spinach hash, which was wonderfully crispy and topped with a duck egg plus a dab of spice paste; a decadent hollandaise sauce made it swoon-worthy.
.
My teen, meanwhile, loved his French Toast: crispy on the exterior, tender inside, topped with sour cherries and cream, with maple syrup alongside.
.
We both also enjoyed some of the creamiest yogurt we've ever had, topped with a berry compote. This was our favorite hotel breakfast among our joint hotel stays on this trip.
.
We had a 2pm late check-out, and I figured I'd probably have to get rekeyed when I came back from a walk at 1pm, but no–my key continued to work (it must have been correctly programmed at check-in). Like I said–it's wonderful when a hotel minimizes friction and makes things work better for guests.
Can you guess this luxury hotel and where it's located?
