Chase Sapphire Preferred 50,000 Bonus Ends Tuesday April 3

Chase Sapphire Preferred 50000 Bonus Ends Tuesday April 3

Update: Best current bonus for the Chase Sapphire Preferred Visa is 40,000 points.

Just got alerted that the Chase Sapphire Preferred 50,000 bonus offer ends this Tuesday, April 3 [Update: expired offer: best current bonus is 40,000 points], after which all links will only be good for the publicly available 40,000 bonus offer. This is expected, as we wrote in Chase Sapphire Preferred 50,000 Bonus Points-Last Chance? We just didn't know the exact date it would happen.

As a reminder, here are the details:

  • 40,000 Ultimate Rewards points after $3000 spend on the Chase Sapphire Preferred within the first 3 months
  • Points may be transferred 1:1 to United/Continental, British Airways, Korean Air, Hyatt, Marriott, Intercontinental/Priority Club, Amtrak, Southwest
  • 2x points on all travel spend (airfare, train tickets, hotels, car rentals, taxis)
  • 2x points on all dining spend (restaurants, cafes, takeout, Starbucks, etc.)
  • 7% bonus on all points (including on the 50,000 bonus points)
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • $95 annual fee waived the first year

We wrote the other day on using Chase Exclusives Bonuses to maximize Chase Freedom Ultimate Rewards Points so that you can get 7x back or more from the Chase Freedom on multiple small denomination purchases; to be able to transfer Chase Freedom points to United MileagePlus or Hyatt (two of their best redemption uses) though, you need the Chase Sapphire Preferred or other Chase credit card linked to Ultimate Rewards.

Business class roundtrip to Europe is 100K points/miles + $140, First class to Asia is 140K points/miles. Since a first class ticket to Asia easily runs north of $15-20K, that's 10-14 cents per mile/point in value (although since many of you would never pay $15-20K for a ticket, put your own valuation there). So an additional 10,000 bonus miles could equate to about $1000, depending on how you redeem and value the miles. Even if you only value Ultimate Rewards points at 2.5-3 cents each, $250-$300 is nothing to sneeze at, with the total 50,000 point bonus worth anywhere from $1250-$5000 depending on how you value each Ultimate Rewards point.

Given that Delta is rumored to be moving to a fixed value loyalty program and that you're unable to book Delta SkyMiles business class awards on Air France and KLM using U.S. call center agents, I'd say that helps make United miles, Ultimate Rewards points and the Chase Sapphire Preferred relatively even more valuable now.
