70,000 Skymiles with Delta Gold AMEX and $100 Statement Credit

70000 Delta SkyMiles with Delta Gold AMEX

Update: Deal is Now Dead, Removed the Link

You can get up to 70,000 Skymiles with the Delta Gold AMEX card and a $100 statement credit on a Delta purchase with the Delta Gold AMEX card

Details:

  • Earn 25,000 Skymiles after first purchase
  • Earn 45,000 additional Skymiles after spending $5000 within the first six months
  • Earn a $100 statement credit on your first Delta purchase within three months of opening the card
  • $95 annual fee is waived the first year
  • As a cardholder, enjoy Zone 1 priority boarding
  • Cardholder and up to eight others on the same reservation each get one free checked bag
Note that if you currently have this card you can't get the bonus, and you probably won't be able to get it if you've recently had the card, though you could always try.

70,000 miles sounds great, but I most likely won't be applying for it because I have no plans to use Skymiles for anything–I never fly Delta, and I prefer international first class award travel, which Delta doesn't allow. And since I have no plans to purchase a Delta ticket, the $100 statement credit isn't of value to me either. Then again, maybe I should get some miles in case we ever want to go to Australia on V Australia… In any case, many others will get good value out of those miles, so if you want this offer, apply sooner rather than later, as it may not last long.

If you apply, don't forget to also apply for a few other cards at the same time, since other card issuers won't see recent inquiries if you apply for them all on the same day. Since you have six months to make $5000 spend to receive the entire bonus, you could apply for a small business card that has high spend such as the Ink Plus or Ink Bold, and another personal card that just has a first purchase requirement, such as the Hyatt Visa or the MileagePlus Explorer.
