Cathay Lounge at London Palladium Theatre

There's a new Cathay Lounge in the London Palladium Theatre for theatergoers to enjoy before performances. It's an unusual partnership, and in fact is Cathay Pacific's first brand partnership outside of Hong Kong.

Kinto Chan, Cathay's regional general manager of Europe, noted: “It might seem strange to associate an airline with a theatre. But at Cathay, it’s our mission to help connect people to places, people and experiences that mean something and enrich their life.”

The lounge is intimate in size, only seating 8-10 guests, so it's imperative to reserve space in advance, which is possible during the ticketing process. Each guest needs to have his/her own Cathay membership number (although it was possible for me to have my son, as a minor, receive a ticket based on my own membership number). It's complimentary to any Cathay Pacific Asia Miles member; you do not need to have elite status or even to have any Asia miles in your account.

Note that the lounge is supposed to have some complimentary nibbles, but there are no complimentary drinks; these are ordered from one of via Palladium Red Coat service, at the prevailing bar rates. There is, however, a restroom private to the lounge, and it's a quieter environment to enjoy a drink and conversation, instead of the more crowded theater bars.
