50K AMEX Premier Rewards Gold Card Bonus Offer

50K AMEX Premier Rewards Gold Signup Bonus Offer

A 50K AMEX Premier Rewards Gold card offer is available, better than the standard 25,000 bonus offer. The AMEX Premier Rewards Gold is better than the AMEX Platinum for spending even after earning the signup bonus, thanks to its 3X points for airfare, and a relatively recent improvement is that it also offers a $100 airline incidental fee credit each calendar year, which means you can make money on this card the first year, when the annual fee is waived.

Here are the offer details:

  • Earn 50,000 bonus AMEX Membership Rewards points after charging $3000 of eligible purchases on the card with first 3 months of card membership
  • 3X points per dollar spent on airfare purchased directly from a commercial passenger airline
  • 2X points per dollar spent on U.S. restaurants, U.S. stand alone gas stations and U.S. stand alone supermarkets
  • 1 point per dollar for all other purchases
  • $100 airline incidental fee credit per calendar year
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • No annual fee the first year; $195 annual fee thereafter

How to Get the 50K AMEX Premier Rewards Gold Offer

In my post How to Get the 50K AMEX Business Gold Offer I mentioned that I was only able to see the offer using my Safari browser and not in Chrome. It was just the opposite initially with the 50K AMEX Premier Rewards Gold offer, which I was only able to see by opening incognito browsers in Google Chrome.

Meanwhile, in my Safari browser, even using private browsing, I initially saw only a 25K bonus offer for $2000 spend, and it took over 20 tries until I was able to see the 50K offer:

FAQ

I'm I Eligible for the 50K AMEX Premier Rewards Gold Bonus Offer If I Previously Had an AMEX Premier Rewards Gold Card?

No; ever since AMEX made its signup bonuses once per lifetime for personal AMEX cards, you can't earn a signup bonus for the exact same personal AMEX card. AMEX terms also specifically state “Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product.”

When do the Membership Rewards Bonus Points Post to My Account?

Allow 6-8 weeks after you have met minimum spend for the Membership Rewards bonus points to be reflected in your account.

Do I Earn 2X Points for Restaurants, Gas Stations and Supermarkets Outside the U.S.?

No, 2X points is for U.S. restaurants, gas stations and supermarkets only. If you want to earn 2X points on restaurants while traveling abroad, use your Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Is the $100 Airline Fee Credit Valid for Airline Tickets?

Not directly, no. As an incidental credit it is supposed to apply to baggage fees, in-flight food, airline club fees and similar that are billed directly by the airline. Per AMEX terms “Airline tickets, upgrades, mileage points purchases, mileage points transfer fees, gift cards, duty free purchases, and award tickets are not deemed to be incidental fees.” In practice, it has usually been possible to get certain airline gift cards such as AA gift cards that are $100 or lower denominations reimbursed.

You must first select your airline for the $100 incidental fee credit before using your card for airline fees.

Is the $100 Airline Fee Credit per Authorized User or Per Card Account?

It is per card account, NOT per authorized user, so one $100 credit per calendar year per account.

Can Membership Rewards Points be Transferred to Others' Frequent Flyer Accounts?

You can only transfer your AMEX Membership Rewards points to others' frequent flyer accounts if they are authorized users of your card. I recommend making your spouse or partner an authorized user on your account, if you want to be able to transfer your AMEX Membership Rewards points to his or her frequent flyer accounts. See AMEX Points Transer to Another Account: Authorized Users Only

What Are the Best Ways to Redeem AMEX Membership Rewards Points?

You'll get the best value by transferring AMEX Membership Rewards points to certain airline partners. My favorite transfer partner is Singapore KrisFlyer for Singapore Suites on the A380, Singapore First Class and Singapore Business Class, and to a lesser extent, Air France/KLM Flying Blue, and Cathay Pacific Asia Miles. Some of my Award Booking clients also transfer to Air Canada Aeroplan and Delta SkyMiles (although note that Delta awards tend to require more miles than other programs such as Alaska Mileage Plan and American AAdvantage)

Were you able to successfully apply for the 50K AMEX Premier Rewards Gold card? Was your experience different when using different browsers?
