You can earn 10,000 Membership Rewards points for enrolling in the AMEX Extended Payment Option, if you've been targeted. Note that AMEX has gotten stingier with bonuses, and will most likely *not* provide this bonus unless you've been targeted, so first login online to your AMEX account to see if you've been targeted.
While the Extended Payment Option gives you the option to pay over time, as always, I recommend you NOT use this and instead pay in full every month. You don't want to be paying any high interest charges for any of your credit cards, as this would negate the benefit of the frequent flyer miles and points you earn with them.
Here's what we saw as a banner in my husband's account, promoting the 10,000 points for signing up for the AMEX Extended Payment Option:
After clicking through, we came to the AMEX Extended Payment Option 10,000 Membership Rewards Points Offer, but as noted above, you must be targeted to be eligible for the bonus.
Here are the terms and conditions, which make it very clear that:
- Only AMEX card members who are targeted by AMEX for this offer qualify for the bonus
- Only one bonus per AMEX Membership Rewards account is permitted
- Allow 6-8 weeks after your Extended Payment Enrollment is approved for Membership Rewards bonus points to post.
I don't remember being asked for income when I enrolled for the Extended Payment Option over a year ago, but this time the Extended Payment Enrollment form did ask for income:
Have you or someone in your family been targeted for the 10,000 bonus Membership Rewards points offer, to enroll in AMEX Extended Payment?
