Starwood $25 Award Certificate for Gold and Platinum SPG Elites

Starwood $25 Award Certificate for SPG Gold and Platinum Elites

Starwood has sent Gold and Platinum elite members a $25 award certificate to use on anything that can be charged to the room. I only discovered this when I was searching for an old SPG statement, and noticed there was an email I hadn't even opened. So in case you too don't always get to all your Starwood emails, take advantage of this $25 certificate (you must fill in your details first, then it will be mailed to you)

While not a lot, $25 is better than nothing, especially given the recent Starwood Cash and Points Devaluation, and also better, in my view, than a 3 month subscription to Hulu Plus, which although it costs roughly the same ($7.99/month, so ~$24 for 3 months) I'd never use. Plus, note that the Hulu Plus offer is for new subscribers only, and that you need to use a credit card that will then authorize Hulu to auto renew your subscription unless you cancel by the end of the 3 month period.

If you're SPG Gold and Platinum and haven't received the email, try going to this page, entering your SPG number, and seeing if the following page comes up:

Starwood $25 Award Certificate for Gold and Platinum SPG Elites

Key Terms to Note

  • Certificate will be mailed within 4-6 weeks after you fill out the online form
  • Certificate is valid one year from the month issued
  • Certificate is valid for goods or services that can be charged to your room
  • When used outside the U.S., the hotel's currency conversion rates of the day apply

I haven't yet earmarked my $25 award certificate for a particular stay, but would prefer to use it at a U.S. property if I have a domestic stay, due to the notoriously bad conversion rates at most hotels (not just Starwood) abroad. Time to lock in my SPG cash and points award stays for the year, before the award chart devaluation!
