What are the best Singapore Suites on the A380, Singapore First Class and Singapore Business Class award flight redemptions from the West Coast to Asia? TravelSort reader Mark writes “Without going into too much detail, could you provide your opinion on: best redemption options on Singapore Airlines for US West Coast departures to Asia in Singapore Business Class and Singapore First Class?”
As anyone who has been searching Singapore KrisFlyer award space recently knows, Singapore Suites, Singapore First Class and Singapore Business Class saver award space on routes from the U.S. is worse than it used to be. Even the Singapore First Class route via Seoul Incheon, which used to have more award space due to the greater demand for the A380 Singapore Suites product on the LAX-Tokyo route, has gotten much harder to get and is often waitlisted or shows no saver award space at all.
Singapore Suites A380 LAX to Tokyo NRT + Singapore First Class HND to SIN: 91,375 KrisFlyer miles + $123.17
- Mostly available for 1 person, last minute
Singapore First Class SIN to Tokyo HND + Singapore Suites A380 Tokyo NRT to LAX for 91,375 KrisFlyer miles + SGD 226
- Mostly available for 1-2 people last minute or when calendar just opens
Singapore First Class SFO-HKG-SIN for 91,375 KrisFlyer miles + $263.40
- Available on a few dates for 1-2 people
Singapore First Class SIN-HKG-SFO for 91,375 KrisFlyer miles + SGD 428.20
- Mostly available for 1-2 people last minute or when calendar just opens
Singapore Business Class LAX-NRT-SIN: 68,000 KrisFlyer miles + $266.80
- Mostly available for 1 person, last minute although here's an example of saver award space for 2 people:
Singapore Business Class SIN-NRT-LAX: 68,000 KrisFlyer miles + SGD 433.10
- Mostly available for 1 person, last minute
Singapore Business Class SFO-HKG-SIN for 68,000 KrisFlyer miles + $253.40
- Available on a few dates for 1-2 people
- Singapore Standard Award Availability. If flying Singapore matters more to you than the miles involved, there is often standard award availability if you book in advance, even if saver level award availability is unavailable or can only be waitlisted. Just note that you'll be using nearly twice as many miles for a standard level award.
- Singapore First Class from Houston via Moscow DME to Singapore. Sure, it's a lot of flying, but it is on Singapore and in First Class and there are often 2 saver award seats. Houston is about 3.5 hours from the West Coast, and you'll need to use other miles or buy a ticket to position there.
- JAL First Class to Tokyo from SFO and LAX. JAL First Class features open suites and the service may not be quite as polished as Singapore, but I still love it for its wonderfully comfortable beds (you even get a choice of mattress firmness/softness, which you don't on Singapore) and for its artfully presented Japanese cuisine. If anything, I was more impressed by the food in JAL First Class than in Singapore Suites.
- Korean First Class to Seoul from SFO and LAX. Another great use of your Chase Ultimate Rewards points is Korean Air First Class, and there's tons more award space than on Singapore.
