Earn More SPG Starpoints with Marriott Visa Bonuses

Earn More SPG Starpoints with Marriott Visa Bonuses

Now that you can Link Your SPG and Marriott Accounts and Transfer Points, it's a good time to earn more Starpoints with Marriott visa signup bonuses. Specifcally, if you qualify for both cards, and add an authorized user to the personal card, that's at least 173K Marriott Rewards points after meeting minimum spend, giving you over 57,000 Starpoints, given the 3:1 ratio–3000 Marriott Rewards points = 1000 SPG Starpoints.

Sadly the 140K Ritz-Carlton Visa offer hasn't been seen for some time, so your best bets are the 80K Marriott Visa and 80K Marriott Rewards Business Visa. Here are the current Marriott Visa offers:

80K Marriott Rewards Premier Visa

  • Earn 80K Marriott Rewards points after spending $3000 within the first 3 months
  • Earn 7500 Marriott Rewards points after adding an authorized user and making a purchase within the first 3 months

  • Earn 5 points per dollar at participating Marriott hotels and resorts
  • Earn 2 points per dollar spent at restaurants, gas stations, and on airline tickets purchased directly with airlines
  • Receive 15 Elite Credits, granting Silver Elite status, plus earn 1 Elite credit for every $3000 spent on purchases
  • $85 annual fee
  • No foreign transaction fees

FAQ

Am I Eligible If I've Previously Had the Marriott Visa?

Only if you are not a current cardholder and have not received a signup bonus for the card within the past 24 months.

Isn't There a 100K Marriott Business Visa Bonus Offer?

Earlier this year there was a 100K Marriott Rewards Premier Business Visa offer, after $5000 minimum spend, but that public offer has ended. It's possible there are still targeted offers, so be sure to check your snail mail in case you receive this higher targeted offer.

Are the Marriott Visa and Marriott Business Visa Covered by Chase 5/24?

The personal Marriott Visa is included in Chase 5/24, but the Marriott Business Visa is not covered by Chase 5/24. So if you're concerned about being approved if you're already at Chase 5/24, and you qualify for the Marriott Business Visa, you should apply for it instead of the personal Marriott Visa.

What's So Special About Starpoints? Why Should I Transfer Marriott Rewards Points to Starpoints?

The reason Starpoints are worth so much more than Marriott points and other hotel points and frequent flyer miles is two-fold:

  • They transfer 1:1 to more airline frequent flyer programs than any other miles or points; and
  • When transferring in increments of 20,000 Starpoints, you receive a built-in 25% bonus, such that 20K Starpoints = 25K frequent flyer miles, for all frequent flyer partners that have 1:1 transfer ratios, which is most of them.
