Best Luxury Hotels in St. Lucia, Caribbean

With 28 islands in the Caribbean, choosing the best fit for your ideal romantic getaway can be daunting. Is it just fantasy to hope for a tropical spot with soft sand, mesmerizing views, plenty of outdoor activities if you so choose, but also suites with private pools you won't want to leave? Not if you head to St. Lucia. This small island in the Lesser Antilles has a reputation as a romantic getaway, and nowhere does it show more than in these incredible properties!

Jade Mountain has to be seen to be believed: 28 sanctuaries, most with their own private infinity pool from which you have a magnificent panoramic view of the craggy Pitons and the Caribbean Sea with nothing obstructing your view, not even glass–the fourth wall is entirely absent. Enjoy the luxury of space, with open plan suites that range from 1650 to over 2000 square feet, each one-of-a-kind and meticulously designed by owner and architect Nick Troubetzkoy. You'll also have a personal concierge to ensure your stay is perfect, and will savor award-winning cuisine in the exclusive Jade Mountain Club by James Beard winner Chef Allen Susser. While you can arrange to have WiFi in your sanctuary, they are refreshingly free of telephones, television and other technology. The ultimate luxury retreat in which to disconnect, and reconnect with your partner.

Only a few years old, Cap Maison is quickly becoming the go-to Caribbean resort for couples in the know. It's not just the spectacular setting on an isolated bluff with stunning ocean views, the welcome flutes of champagne, the Acqua de Parma toiletries or the superb dining and wine paired by the expert sommelier. The staff is among the friendliest and most helpful you'll find anywhere–nothing is too much trouble for them. We highly recommend splurging on the expansive Oceanview Villa Suites with private pool and rooftop terrace. You could easily entertain several friends, given the spaciousness of the suites and kitchens…but then again, Cap Maison is so romantic, we think you'll be glad you escaped here with just your significant other.

Boucan by Hotel Chocolat
It doesn't really get more luxury boutique than this: just 14 lodges nestled either around a garden courtyard, or, for the Luxe Lodges, with a view of the Pitons and Caribbean Sea from their private deck. Each lodge is sleekly yet cozily outfitted with a four poster pillowtop king bed draped in ultra-soft linens, open sky rainforest shower, luxe REN toiletries from London, iPod preloaded with a playlist inspired by the surrounding cocoa estate, and free WiFi. A refreshingly chilled bottle of prosecco greets you on arrival, and for an afternoon pick me up, brew yourself some freshly ground coffee or Jing tea to enjoy with the freshly made chocolate treats (never has a hotel name been more apt!) which are refreshed daily. Relax in the infinity pool at Club Boucan, savor cacao inspired spa treatements, or take advantage of the free daily transfer to a stunning nearby beach.

Ladera has garnered countless awards from Conde Nast Traveler, Travel and Leisure, Brides Magazine and others, and gazing out at the majestic view of the Pitons and sea from any of its suites or villas, it's not hard to see why. Accomodations are more comfortable than luxurious, and you'll need to enjoy nature since, as with Jade Mountain, all suites and villas are open, without a fourth wall and nothing coming between you and the gorgeous views. You can splurge on a Hilltop Dream Suite for the absolute best views, along with a private heated pool and waterfall, but the Petit and Gros Piton Suites also come with lovely views and private plunge pool. Staff are very hospitable, and the concierge very helpful in setting up excursions, a climb of Gros Piton (make sure you're in great shape!), or Soufriere market tour with Ladera Chef Nigel. But don't feel guilty if you choose to barely leave your suite or villa at all…

If Jade Mountain and Cap Maison are too pricey and you'd prefer an all-inclusive, look no further than The BodyHoliday at Le Sport, where you can enjoy everything from golf, archery, scuba, yoga, tai chi and more as well as excellent dining and premium brand drinks included in your rate. You'll even enjoy a daily 50 minute spa treatment at no extra cost–perfect to relax sore muscles after strenuous workouts. Or simply relax at the resort's soft sand beach or poolside, with a good book. There's a reason why The BodyHoliday is among those listed in the 2011 Conde Naste Traveler Top 100 List, and you'll come back rejuvenated by a vacation here.
