Here are the offer details:

• Get 3000 additional Membership Rewards points each time you use your enrolled card to spend a total of $200+ on room rate and room charges with a participating Marriott property by 2/28/17.
• Limit of 6000 Membership Rewards points per card.
• Must be targeted for offer and add offer to your American Express card prior to Marriott spend
• Enrollment limited.
• Valid only at participating Marriott brands in the U.S. and U.S. territories
• Excludes international locations
• Excludes The Ritz-Carlton, Bulgari, Marriott Executive Apartments, Marriott Vacation Club, Protea and Starwood Hotel and Resort properties.
• Offer not valid for stays that are paid for before or after the promotion start and end dates.

While we rarely stay at Marriott properties, this offer comes at a perfect time for us, since we'll have just over $400 in spend at a Marriott this holiday season, when visiting relatives. Since one of my AMEX cards and one of my husband's AMEX cards were targeted for this offer, we'll see if we can use the two cards to pay our bill, so as to earn 3000 AMEX Membership Rewards points on each of those cards, for 6000 total Membership Rewards points.

Which AMEX Cards Are Being Targeted for This Marriott Offer?

While it's only a couple of data points, in our case, my AMEX Business Platinum and my husband's AMEX Business Rewards Gold card were the ones targeted for the offer. Our SPG Business AMEX cards and my Delta AMEX were not targeted. Please share which of your AMEX cards were targeted for this offer in the comments.

No–per the offer terms, “Excludes gift card purchases.”

When Will the 3000 additional bonus points post to my Membership Rewards account?

Per the terms, “Additional points will be credited to your Program account within 90 days after 2/28/2017.”

Can I Earn 6000 Points If I Ask the Hotel to Split the Transaction?

Unknown; you won't earn 6000 points for a single transaction of $400 or more, but it's possible (although not guaranteed) that you would earn it for two separate transactions of $200 or more from the same property same day. If you and your spouse or partner each got the offer, however, I think a safer bet, if the Marriott hotel is willing to split the transaction, is to charge $200 or more on each of your enrolled cards.

Can I Combine This Offer with Virtuoso Benefits? 

Yes, if you're reserving a qualifying U.S. Marriott property that is also a Virtuoso hotel as a TravelSort Client or with your Virtuoso luxury travel advisor. Examples include:
