50K AMEX Gold Delta SkyMiles Card with $100 Statement Credit

50K AMEX Gold Delta SkyMiles Card with $100 Statement Credit

50K AMEX Gold Delta SkyMiles signup bonus offer with $100 statement credit is available if you start a Delta.com flight booking. You don't have to actually complete your Delta booking, you can simply apply for the offer and later make a Delta purchase (including gift cards) to get the $100 statement credit.

I noticed this offer when booking a positioning flight for a TravelSort Award Booking client, and while I personally never collect Delta SkyMiles or book Delta awards for myself, I may have to review our travel plans for the coming year just to make sure there still aren't any flights where we'd be able to use a $100 Delta flight credit and 50K Sky Pesos, er, SkyMiles.

Here are the offer details:

  • Earn 50K Delta SkyMiles after you make $2000 in purchases within the first 3 months of membership
  • Receive a $100 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your card within the first 3 months of membership
  • Earn 2X on Delta purchases made directly with Delta, when Delta is the merchant of record
  • Enjoy first checked bag free for the card member and up to 8 travel companions on the same Delta flight reservation as the card member
  • No foreign transaction fees
  • No annual fee the first year, then $95 per year
  • Offer expires July 6, 2016

FAQ

Am I Eligible if I Haven't Had the AMEX Gold Delta SkyMiles Card in Years?

No, AMEX signup bonuses are now once in a lifetime. AMEX terms read “Welcome bonus offer not available to applicants who have or have had this product.”

When Do the 50,000 Bonus SkyMiles Post to My Delta Account?

Per the terms, “Miles will be credited to your account 6-8 weeks after you reach the spend threshold.”

Do Delta SkyMiles Expire?

No–Delta SkyMiles aren't worth much, but at least they don't expire.

Where Are the Delta SkyMiles Award Charts?!

There aren't any–Delta would prefer you not compare their abysmal redemption rates to competitors, to see just how little Delta miles are worth. Also see Delta's Missing Award Charts and 5 Other Reasons Delta SkyMiles Aren't Worth It

Bottom Line
If you live in Atlanta or another major Delta city or otherwise fly Delta a lot, you probably already have the AMEX Gold Delta SkyMiles card and aren't eligible for this offer. But if you've never had the card, this is about as good a public offer as we've seen for this card and a decent bonus for card that has no annual fee the first year and even gives you $100 off a Delta flight. I value Delta miles at about 1 cent each, so the 50K bonus plus $100 statement credit are about $600–well below the other cards on my Best Travel Credit Cards page, but worth a look if you already have those cards or fly Delta.
