United Explorer 65,000 Bonus Miles Reader Question

David writes: “I read your United MileagePlus Explorer 65,000 Bonus Miles Offer Tips” and it worked for my wife, but not for me–I still see only the 30,000 mile offer, no matter what I do. Any way I can also receive the higher bonus offer?”

I'm betting there are more than a few folks in David's shoes–they can see that the targeted offer does indeed still exist, since a spouse, partner or friend was able to see it, but very frustratingly, they can't get it to appear for themselves. 

While it sounds as though David has tried everything, I'd just check these to ensure you've given yourself the best chance:

  • Ensure you have some “fresh” United miles in your MileagePlus account; you can transfer in 1000 miles from Ultimate Rewards points earned via the Ink Bold, Ink Plus or Sapphire Preferred. If you don't have any United miles in your account, you won't be able to see the higher targeted offer.
  • Try a different browser, such as IE. Some have reported not being able to see the higher targeted offer in Chrome.
 
If you still have no luck, then you could apply for the  United MileagePlus Explorer Card 30,000 miles offer (I appreciate the support if you choose to use my referral link), and after approval, request to be matched to the higher offer. Dan of Dan's Deals recently got matched from the 30,000 offer he was approved for to 55,000 miles (includes 5000 miles for adding an authorized user) plus a $50 statement credit, after spending $1000, simply by sending a secure message. I'm assuming Dan was actually matched to the 65,000 offer, but he considers it a 55,000 offer because the final 10,000 miles are only awarded after spending $25,000 in a calendar year, so for most folks, this is de facto a 55,000 offer.
 
There is a targeted offer for 65,000 United miles + a $50 credit, for example a Flyertalk member received this offer after booking an award trip on United. And while there of course is no guarantee that Chase will match you, it's good to know that there is a current (or at least recent) better offer that includes a statement credit, and that there's been a very recent success being matched to it.
 
Dan also reports that he matched a United Explorer business card from the original 30,000 miles offer to 50,000 miles plus a $50 statement credit, after spending $1000. Worst case scenario, even if you're refused, you have two cards, a personal and business United MileagePlus Explorer, and 65,000 United miles total after adding an authorized user to the personal one (35,000 + 30,000) and $2000 total spend. Best case, you're able to get matched on both of them, and receive 105,000 United miles total after adding an authorized user to the personal one (55,000 + 50,000) and $100 total statement credit, after $2000 total spend.
