Hyatt Cash and Points Awards Now Available

Hyatt Cash & Points awards are now available by calling Hyatt Gold Passport at 1-800-228-3360 to request availability and book.

The best Hyatt Cash & Points deals, as I noted in Hyatt Adds Cash and Points Awards, are for Category 6, since effectively you're buying Hyatt points at 1.2 cents each.

I quickly checked 3 Hyatt Category 6 properties to see what their availability was during some holiday seasons, and here were the results:

1. Park Hyatt Maldives: Cash and Points Available December 24-27

I was pleasantly surprised that the Park Hyatt Maldives had award availability over Christmas. Nonetheless, if you're planning a Christmas or New Year's break there, I would hurry up and book this, as this is peak season.

2. Andaz Maui at Wailea: Cash and Points (and Paid Bookings) Sold Out December 21-January 4

This is no surprise, given the recent Hyatt devaluation with tons of folks making speculative bookings, and the fact that Hawaii is much easier (and cheaper) to get to than the Maldives. Dates available on either side of the Christmas and New Year's window as of this writing were December 20th and earlier and January 5th and later.

I also checked Easter weekend, April 18, 19 and 20, and there was Cash & Points availability at the Andaz Maui for those dates as well.

3. Park Hyatt Chicago: Cash and Points Available Easter Weekend, April 18, 19 and 20

Christmas isn't so much high season for Chicago, so instead I checked Easter weekend, and there was cash and points availability.

Bottom Line: While these are just a few initial data points, I was pleasantly surprised with the Park Hyatt Maldives availability during a peak holiday period, at least as of this writing. And of course it only makes sense that if there's no paid booking availability at the Andaz Maui, there are also no Cash & Points awards. I'll still be checking further for examples of when there is paid booking availability, but no Cash & Points awards. I do really wish that Hyatt would make Cash & Points availability viewable online, as SPG does, as it would be easier than calling.
