Expiring Offers: 20K AMEX Blue Business Plus, Freedom 5X on Groceries, Hyatt Visa

Expiring Offers: 20K AMEX Blue Business Plus, Freedom 5X on Groceries, Hyatt Visa

Here's a roundup of expiring offers, including the 20K AMEX Blue Business Plus, Chase Freedom 5X on Groceries, and the Hyatt Visa 2 nights in any Hyatt.

1. 20K AMEX Blue for Business Plus: Last Chance

This offer is already gone from the affiliate channel, so be sure to check out our Best Travel Credit Cards page under the Best Travel Credit Cards for Everyday Spend for the link, if you'd still like to apply for the card with the 20,000 Membership Rewards bonus points.

I'm glad we already got this card for my husband, since it earns 2X Membership Rewards points on all purchases and carries no annual fee. If you're thinking of closing your AMEX Platinum or AMEX Business Platinum, get this card first so that you can preserve your Membership Rewards points.

2. Chase Freedom 5X on Grocery Stores and Drugstores: Expires June 30

If you activated your Chase Freedom card(s) awhile ago, don't forget to spend $1500 for Q2 2017 (April-June 2017) on each card. We've done this for two of our 3 Chase Freedom cards, and I plan to max out the 3rd card today, buying gift cards at Trader Joe's. That will give us 5X at both of our main grocery stores, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, where we regularly earn 5X thanks to Whole Foods gift cards bought at Staples with our Ink Plus.

3. Hyatt Visa with 2 Free Nights: Expires June 28

Effective June 29, the Hyatt Visa will switch over to a 40,000 bonus offer, instead of the current bonus of 2 free nights in any Hyatt in the world. The 40,000 bonus points offer may be better for budget travelers, but if your plan is to redeem two free nights at the Park Hyatt New York, Park Hyatt Paris, Park Hyatt Milan, Park Hyatt Sydney, Park Hyatt Maldives or other Category 7 or Category 6 Hyatts, you're better off applying now, before the offer changes. Again, see our Best Travel Credit Cards for the current link, which also provides a $50 statement credit after your first purchase. Note that the $75 annual fee is not waived.

4. Buy AAdvantage Miles for 1.7 Cents per Mile: Expires June 30

Until June 30, you can buy 150,000 AAdvantage miles for $4311.19 (including tax and processing charge) and earn a 100,000 mile bonus. That equates to buying AAdvantage miles for 1.7 cents per mile, which is about as good as it gets when buying AAdvantage miles.

If you're sitting on tons of AAdvantage miles or don't have a near term planned use of AAdvantage miles this offer isn't for you, but for my Award Booking Service I frequently run into clients whose best award redemption would be with AAdvantage miles, yet they don't have any, and only have an AMEX Platinum or Centurion card with lots of AMEX Membership Rewards points. Sure, these can transfer to British Airways Avios (although only at a 1000 points = 800 British Airways Avios ratio) to book oneworld awards, but the awards are more expensive than using AAdvantage miles, and Avios can't book Etihad First Apartment or other Etihad awards.

The other good thing about buying AA miles is that American Airlines (not points.com) processes the transaction, so you do earn 2X miles if paying with a Citi AAdvantage card or 3X points  when using the Chase Sapphire Reserve.

Are there other offers expiring soon that you plan to take advantage of?
