Activate Chase Freedom 5X Bonus for Q4 2021

.

Activate Chase Freedom 5X for Q4 2021 Bonus Categories: PayPal and Walmart. Keep in mind that once activated, you'll need to wait until October 1, 2021 to start earning 5X points per dollar spent in these categories. The best use of the points is if you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred, Chase Sapphire Reserve, or Ink Business Preferred card and can transfer the points, as Ultimate Rewards points, to frequent flyer programs to reserve business class award flights. And until 9/26/21, there's a Chase to British Airways Avios 30% Transfer Bonus that can make transfers an even better deal.

We're of two minds about these 5X categories. They have the potential to be great for anyone with major purchases at Walmart, or who has PayPal Key, a virtual card that can be funded by a Chase Freedom card, which can mean earning 5X almost anywhere online where MasterCard is accepted.

The problem is that PayPal Key is NOT available to everyone. Here's the “Coming Soon” error message that we see when trying to sign up for PayPal Key:

“You discovered the PayPal Key, a new way to use PayPal anywhere online. It’ll be available soon. Check back later in the app and on our website.”

So much for PayPal Key.

What we really miss is when the Chase Freedom 5X categories were airlines and hotels in Q4.

In the meantime, don't forget to max out the current Q3 2021 Chase Freedom 5X bonus for grocery stores, for example by buying gift cards for future use.
